FREQUENTLY  ASKED  QUESTIONS

My assigned mentor never shows up to meetings and seems uninterested. Will I be assigned a new mentor?
It's a possibility. If you are having issues, please contact Frank or Kathy directly and they will work with you to try to find a solution.

Can I ask my professional mentor for a job?
I wouldn't come right out with "Can I have a job?" on the first meeting. Just work with your mentor to reach your goals. Showing progress and dedication could end up impressing your mentor so that they do offer you an opportunity for employment, or a great reference. Just remember the purpose of the program and don't expect your mentor to make you a job offer.

Who is responsible for booking meetings between my mentor and I?
YOU as the mentee are responsible for negotiating a date that works for both you and your mentor. If you must rebook, then it's your responsibility to do so.

Can I ask my mentor to introduce me to their contacts to improve my network?
It is up to your mentor whether or not they feel comfortable doing that. Your mentor will probably offer if he or she feels comfortable doing so.

My mentor has crossed a professional boundary and I'm worried about confronting them or have done so with poor results. What should I do?
If you at any point feel your relationship with your mentor has become inappropriate, contact FUSE faculty Frank or Kathy immediately.
