As a peer mentor what exactly do I have to do to earn a professional mentor?

What if I plan to graduate this year? Will I still get a professional mentor?
If you are still an actively engaged and dedicated participant in the FUSE program, please see FUSE faculty Frank or Kathy in early September to discuss other ways they can help you.
My assigned mentee never shows up to meetings and seems uninterested. Will I be assigned a new mentee?
It's unlikely you will, as each mentor will have more then one mentee. However, if this happens with all your assigned mentees please contact FUSE executives and we will work something out for you.
What happens if I miss more than two meetings?
Your overall participation in the program will be evaluated to determine whether or not we feel you are dedicated to the program. We do understand that unexpected things sometimes happen and are willing to be accommodating in some extenuating circumstances.
What happens if problems arise between my mentor and I?
We encourage you to utilize problem-solving skills and try to solve the problem amongst yourselves. However, If you feel it's something you can't work out, contact FUSE executives and we will resolve the issue. If we can't reach a resolution, the issue will be brought forward to FUSE faculty.
My mentee is coming to me with personal problems that I am uncomfortable trying to resolve. What do I do?
Try sitting down with your mentee and letting them know that while you would like to help them, there are other more suitable resources within the college that may be able to resolve their issue. We encourage you to help guide them to those resources. If you feel unequipped to do this or it is an ongoing situation, please contact student executives or FUSE faculty to assist you.
